Abstract
This is an original composition for Soprano and Tenor in the form of a nine-song song-cycle using selected poems from Marcia Falk's translation of the Song of Songs, also known as the Song of Solomon, from the Old Testament of the Bible. There are two poems set for SATB chorus in this nine-song set. There are two versions of this work. One is for piano accompaniment and the other is for chamber orchestra accompaniment. The chamber orchestra consists of the following instruments, all one to a part: flute, clarinet in Bb, bassoon, French horn in F, piano, harp, vibraphone, violin, viola, cello, and percussion (crash cymbal, suspended cymbal, temple blocks, wind chimes, tubular bells, crotales, snare drum, triangle, castanets, tambourine, medium gong, and sleigh bells).
