Abstract

Library Research Scholars Adobe Scholars Library Research & Adobe Scholars
This project, developed as a zine through the Adobe Research Scholars program, examines the impacts of colonization on Inuit communities by centering Indigenous perspectives often excluded from dominant narratives. Drawing on historical materials from the Kislak Polar Collection alongside contemporary accounts from Native voices, the project explores how colonization has shaped the Arctic environment, Inuit culture, and public perceptions of the region over time. By integrating maps, photographs, archival documents, and present-day narratives, the zine presents a layered understanding of the Arctic that challenges conventional representations and highlights the ongoing efforts of Indigenous communities to reclaim and share their own histories.
