Abstract
This case points to the complexity of using innovative approaches for teaching science in the second-grade classroom during a transition from face-to-face to online instructionOnline instruction. The case illustrates the different expectations of and negotiation among the teacher, parents, and students. Mrs. Bell is an experienced and passionate teacher who has taught for more than 15 years. With a doctoral degree in education and as a veteran of educational innovationEducational innovation, Mrs. Bell is optimistic in continuing to bring high quality education to her students during the pandemic. Questions and issues start to pile up while students and parents experience difficulties in keeping up with the learning demands of her innovative activities while living in the pandemic.
