Abstract
Communities That Care (CTC) is a community-based prevention system that focuses on the assessment of risk factors and protection against drug use, violence, and interpersonal aggression, coupled with a survey of community knowledge, goals, and values, serves as a basis for defining a community profile. Based on this profile, collectively coordinated actions will be planned that propose the use of evidence-based prevention programs that best meet the specific needs of the community. It is currently one of the most applied prevention systems in the world, already implemented and tested in its effectiveness in more than 500 communities in the USA and adapted in other countries in different continents, such as Australia, Canada, Sweden, Germany, the Netherlands, and Latin American countries such as Colombia, Chile, and Mexico. This chapter aims to discuss CTC and its possibility of adaptation and implementation in Brazil.
