Video capsule endoscopy (VCE) is a non invasive and very safe procedure. Nevertheless, the knowledge of VCE-related complications allows a careful patient selection and a risk minimization. In addition possible VCE complications, such as capsule retention or aspiration, should be carefully explained to the patient during procedure counseling in order to obtain a fully informed consent.
