Abstract
In this chapter, we summarize lessons learned and offer practical applications of significance quest theory and mattering. Since mattering is a foundational human motivation, it is incumbent upon all of us, regardless of specific occupation or stage in life, to learn how to meet that essential human need. We follow an ecological model to formulate recommendations for action at the family, school, work, community, national, and international levels. In addition, we provide suggestions for therapeutic and preventive interventions. We aim to make the material relevant to clinicians, social scientists, parents, teachers, managers, political leaders, policy makers, and government officials.
