Abstract
How do fission yeast cells grow as rods and not spheres or amoebas? How do cells regulate their size? How do cells perceive space, measure distances and determine angles? How do cells regulate spatial order among their organelles and other components? These questions represent one of the frontiers in cell and developmental biology that will ultimately lead to understanding how individual cellular components assemble to give rise to cells and then organisms.
