Abstract
Higher Education Institutions (IES) are constantly reviewing and improving their management systems, so they look to the ERP with the expectation of helping to face the global trends that impact on education. In Latin America, there is little evidence of this issue, since few HEIs have implemented ERP systems because is required a considerable investment. Because the success of these projects is limited and the failure rate high, it is important to identify the factors and conditions that explain the success of the implementation of these projects. The results of the research identified the key factors and barriers that determine the success in ERP implementation projects in these institutions and allow to establish reference guidelines for HEIs that are seeking to implement these systems, being a guide to know the elements that will help them
succeed in their projects.
