Abstract
This chapter is the last of three chapters set in the factory. This chapter considers the phenomenon of female masculinity among several workers. This chapter engages with queer theory in order to explicate gender deviance among some female laborers as it relates to labor exploitation and resistance. The destabilization of biologically essentialist ideals of masculinity through female masculinity in the laboring process is key. This chapter also returns to central concerns regarding Tunisian women’s rights, empowerment, and the navigation of hegemonic gender constructions.
