Abstract

Anal incontinence Anal sphincter Anal sphincter repair Fecal incontinence Gracilis Neuropathy Pudendal
Anal incontinence is distressing for many affected patients. Various etiologies including trauma, neurologic disorders, and iatrogenic events lead to poor function of the anal sphincter. The gracilis muscle is ideally located and provides an option for treatment of incontinence due to anal sphincter defect, pudendal neuropathy, or after other standard treatment options have failed.
