Abstract

Cerebral Blood Flow Subdural Haematoma Severe Head Injury Intracranial Haematoma Head Injury
The importance of head injuries as a target for clinical neuroprotection derives from several factors. These include the high incidence of head injury and the increasing frequency with which younger patients are injured. There is evidence from several sources that ischaemic brain damage is the most important component of secondary brain damage either due to cerebral compression, or from poor oxygenation and perfusion, due to post-traumatic lung or circulatory dysfunction.
