Abstract
The role of a fellowship director is extremely gratifying, but only if pursued for the right reasons. Accepting the fellowship director position requires understanding of its multiple challenges and the aptitude to resolve the issues that arise on a daily basis. As every fellow is different, a variety of skills are necessary to ensure a successful training experience that culminates in a competent professional. This chapter will explore the ideal motives to consider the position and the abilities that are essential to become an effective fellowship director.
