Abstract
Laparoscopic resection of the transverse colon is a procedure that clearly requires advanced skills. Recently, there have been data to support some of the advantages of the laparoscopic approach, including shorter length of hospitalization, earlier return to baseline activity, earlier return to work, and lessened overall disability.13 Therefore, we believe that laparoscopic transverse colectomy should be familiar to the surgeon, even though the indications for this procedure are somewhat limited. However, transverse colon mobilization, resection, and anastomosis may be a component of other more frequently indicated colorectal procedures.
