Abstract
Lung perfusion during heart surgery with cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is a breakthrough undertaking; therefore, it encourages heart surgeons to rethink their technical principles and physiologic concepts. When a heart surgeon decides to embrace that idea, he or she is starting to blaze a trail in which the final step will be paradigm change.
