Abstract
Mulfitocality of genitourinary cancer bears a diverse significance in different organs. Although some organs more often show primary multiple tumors in sporadic cases, in other conditions multifocal disease bears syndromic implications. Histopathologic type and grade of carcinoma are of paramount importance in selecting candidates for potential organ preservation and focal therapy. Herein we review common types of carcinoma seen in genitourinary system and their implications in treatment of the patients. We also focus on strengths and potential weaknesses of surgical pathology contribution to treatment decision in part determined by potential heterogeneity and different clinical risks of separate tumor foci and inherent limitation of biopsy sampling.
