Abstract

In stable conditions, signals in cardiology contain a great deal of redundancy. If everything is working right, one beat should be very similar to the beats that occur around the same time. This redundancy can be used for the purposes of improving the accuracy of estimated values in the presence of noise. In this chapter, we will explore how this redundancy is used to improve signal-to-noise ratio in the signal processing technique of signal averaging.
