Abstract
Wound healing is the ability of the body to repair injured tissue. Wounds can go through healing in two different ways: the first and second intention. Wounds must be cleansed before any topical treatment. Cleansing ensures a correct evaluation, allows the removal of debris and residues of the previous dressing, and dilutes the bacterial load. Appropriate dressing should take into account several factors, such as wound type, location, size, presence of infection, and type and quantity of exudate. The choice of dressing directly affects tissue repair.
