Abstract

Fictional Character Ontological Commitment Scientific Realism Scientific Theory Social Institution
In this lecture Prof. Haack articulates her signature metaphysical theory, Innocent Realism. The world of Innocent Realism is rich and varied, but also integrated: it is a pluralistic universe of natural stuff, things, phenomena, kinds, and laws overlaid, in “our” part of the world, by our thoughts, dreams, etc., by our social institutions, rules, and laws, and by a vast array of human artifacts, physical, intellectual, and imaginative.
