Abstract
Tourette’s disorder (TD) is a complex neuropsychiatric disorder with onset in childhood. It is usually comorbid with other pediatric neuropsychiatric disorders, specifically attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder and obsessive–compulsive disorder. Treatment of TD should consist of pharmacotherapy as well as behavioral therapy, supportive psychotherapy, and educational interventions as needed. While there have been new advances in research on TD, research should continue to focus on the phenomenology, developmental psychopathology, and treatment of the disorder. This article provides a comprehensive overview of the classification and clinical phenomenology, psychiatric comborbidity, etiology, as well as the treatment of TD.
