Abstract
Melanoma has been found within long-standing pressure ulcers, osteomyelitis,
burns, vaccine scars, and venous ulcers (7,14,23). Due to delayed diagnosis and
advanced stage at presentation of these ulcers, the melanoma has likely already
metastasized. Therefore, patients usually have a very poor prognosis. Melanomas,
similar to SCC, have been found to appear in ulcers secondary to burns. For melanoma, the treatment depends on the depth of invasion and the size of the lesion.
