Abstract
In this chapter, Ms. S, a 34yearold woman, visits an obstetrics clinic for a postpartum checkup 6 weeks after giving birth. While her physical condition and her newborn daughter’s health are good, she expresses increasing distress due to constant worry about her baby’s wellbeing. She experiences distressing thoughts about something terrible happening to her child, leading to compulsive behaviors like checking on her baby multiple times a day and frequently calling her husband for reassurance. These intrusive thoughts and behaviors disrupt her sleep and daily activities. This chapter discusses the differentiation between generalized anxiety disorder and obsessivecompulsive disorder. Treatment approaches for both disorders include psychotherapy and medication.
