Abstract
Washington, D.C., National Academy Press, 1990. $45 Here is a report from a committee of the Institute of Medicine's division of Mental Health and Behavioral Medicine. In 1986, responding to increasing recognition of the importance of the availability of treatment and rehabilitation services for alcoholism, the U.S. Congress requested the National Academy of Sciences to answer a variety of questions and address related issues on alcoholism. Section 3 deals with treatment services in general and specifically with refining the definition of treatment for alcohol problems and detailing aspects of the treatment process.
