Abstract
This dataset contains de-identified transcriptions, the interview guide, and demographic data of participants. Between 13 October 2022 - 10 April 2023, fifteen individual semi-structured interviews were conducted with Black women about their experiences with postpartum depression. The women were residents in Miami-Dade, FL. Each interview is separated with the words "End of Audio_Transcription for Participant #]. The transcriptions include participants providing verbal consent and responses to questions on how they disclosed their postpartum depression diagnosis to their support system, the type of support they received, how they communicated with their support system and how that system communicated with them. Additionally, the women were asked about their perceptions of how culture influenced how their support system communicated with them and how they communicated with their system about their diagnosis. The interview guide for this study is located in the file named Interview Guide_Black_Women_Postpartum Depression. The transcriptions have been de-identified to protect patient identity and the sensitivity of the content. This means that any information regarding the women's names, area of residence, places of hospitalization were omitted from the data. Redacted sections were indicated by the use of the word, "de-identified" and square brackets e.g., [de-identified]. To maintain patient privacy, full access to transcriptions will be limited. Demographic data for the participants are in the file Demographics_DataSet_BlackWomen_Postpartum Depression.csv.
