20th Century Traditional Chinese Music: A Guide to Performance Practice for Concert Saxophonists

My D.M.A. lecture recital will indicate how to play traditional Chinese music through the approach of a classical saxophonist. This subject has been well researched pertaining to other music such as classical saxophone performance in American music, Latin music, and European music, but an article on the performance practice of traditional Chinese music for saxophone has never been written. Chinese music in the 20th century is the perfect fusion of traditional Chinese folk elements and modern western compositional techniques, and a study such as this will help the further performance of this genre.
