Abstract
"Bubble Theory" is a multi-movement chamber work for an ensemble of amplified string quartet, saxophone quartet, percussion quartet, and fixed media, inspired by aspects of physics, cymatics, cognition, and perception studies. "Bubble Theory" refers to the concepts and theories of the multiverse I used to construct a macro-to-micro musical collage about existence. Each movement is a metaphor that addresses a different space we inhabit that shapes our perception of reality, such as the universe, our planet, and our home. My composition draws upon compositional approaches from spectralism, minimalism, neo-Romanticism, sound collage, electroacoustics, and multimedia. In the following essay, I will elaborate on the concepts behind each movement and my compositional approach.
