Abstract
We give new criteria for when a resolution of general type with canonical singularities has big cotangent bundle and big bundle of invariant 2-jet differentials. These results give new lower bounds for the values of d for which there is a surface with big bundles of these types that is deformation equivalent to a smooth hypersurface in P^3 of degree d.
