Abstract
Through the analysis of the literature and in-depth comparison of existing undergraduate degree programs across the USA, this paper conducts a study that presents a degree that fuses the core values of an entrepreneurship degree and the traditional curriculum of an Instrumental Performance degree. From the analysis of 56 instrumental performance degree programs for undergraduates that attempt different solutions at this integration, a proposed curriculum-at-a-glance will be presented that represents an equal distribution of core music courses, general education courses, and required entrepreneurial courses. All these courses will always tie back to two major through-lines which are “skill-based learning” and “project-based assessment.” The result of this balance throughout the core curriculum allows for the fundamental principles of entrepreneurship to be built upon and in tandem with the pre-existing standard Instrumental Performance curriculum.
