Abstract
Quadragesima, a composition for baritone and soprano soloists, chorus, and orchestra, was written in partial fulfillment of the requirements of the D.M.A degree in choral conducting at the University of Miami. The work was intended to combine both the experience and knowledge gained from experiences in the Choral Studies Program with the creativity and skills developed through the Department of Music Theory and Composition. The doctoral essay includes a description of the creative origins of the project and an analysis of the compositional process.
