Abstract
A piano quintet in three movements, Res ipsa loquitur, was composed using non-choice or static material plus multiple choices of music for two distinct sections in each movement. This non-static material, twenty to thirty seconds of each movement (two ten-to fifteen-second segments) will be chosen by audience members from additional pre-composed material composer-developed web pages. During the performance, the audience-chosen segments will be inserted into the pre-composed Res ipsa loquitur and will be realized acoustically. The goal of this project is to enhance the audience members' musical experience and to engage them in active musical participation/interaction through the use of multimedia programs.
