Abstract
My lecture recital will explore the pedagogical contributions of Samuel Maykapar’s piano compositions. In this recital, I will analyze and perform selected works from Birjulki, Op. 28, and 24 Miniatures, Op. 33, to examine his approach to integrating technical exercises with artistic expression. Additionally, I will present some of his advanced pieces to highlight his compositional techniques, stylistic features, and pianistic challenges, discussing the valuable learning aspects within his works. This study will further explore the distinct characteristics of Maykapar’s compositions designed for educational purposes, focusing on their technical demands and musical expressiveness. I will also introduce various practice methods tailored to these pieces, demonstrating their pedagogical significance and practical applications in piano education. Through this lecture recital, I aim to uncover Maykapar’s distinctive teaching methods and technical innovations as reflected in his compositions. By highlighting his impact on piano pedagogy, this study seeks to inspire educators in cultivating aspiring pianists while encouraging teachers to explore a broader range of repertoire and exercises for different training objectives. Ultimately, this research aims to provide valuable insights into combining technical development with musical understanding, helping students progress in a comprehensive and well-rounded manner.
