Abstract
Two models (boiler model, and turbine model) have been developed to simulate and analyze a power system. In the boiler model, heat transfer in the combustion chamber is simulated by zone method, heat transfer in the secondary superheater, the reheater, the primary superheater, and the economizer is simulated by lumped parameter analysis. Two kinds of steam turbine model are presented in the dissertation. One is stage-by-stage model, which has not been verified because of unavailable turbine physical sizes. Another one is semi-empirical model, which is used along with the boiler model to simulate the power system. The feedwater heaters model is included in the steam turbine model.One feature of the models is "adaptivity", which means the models can be easily applied to different power systems with different configurations. The uncertain factor such as water tube deposits, component deterioration, and so on are considered by modification factors which are determined from the on-line measurements (a data acquisition program is also coupled in the boiler model). The second law analysis of boiler unit and turbine system is the second feature. Another feature of the power system simulation is that the major parts of the power system are simulated and coupled together to thoroughly analyze some important operational parameters which impose a significant effect on both boiler efficiency and turbine efficiency, such as main steam temperature, reheat temperature, throttle pressure, reheat pressure drop, and so on.The boiler model and the turbine model are tested based on the on-line measurements data. In Chapter 6 these models are employed to analyze the power system. The analyses include combustion heat flux, gas temperature distribution, boiler heaters' performance, boiler unit performance, HP/LP/IP turbine performance, major operational parameters' effects, and so on.
