Abstract

Gentrification-caused displacement Critical race theory Slavery Sequential transformative design Mixed methods Historic Black neighborhoods

This study investigates gentrification-caused displacement in two historic Black neighborhoods in Miami, Florida. Few contemporary studies have addressed the role of race, and specifically the consequences of slavery. Drawing on the scholarly literature, census data, and interviews, the study uses a sequential transformative design to use the voice of participants to describe the experience of gentrification-caused displacement.
