Abstract
Causality is a musical composition in four movements with an approximate duration of 29 minutes. It is scored for string orchestra, percussion and piano. It is a work that sets up harmonic stability throughout the piece in various ways. Drama is achieved through the use of extremes in register, dynamics, articulation, texture and orchestration. The work explores the various colors of the strings, percussion and piano in ways that add interest and excitement to the music. Two of the movements are linked by their formal strictness, and the remaining two movements are linked by their formal freedom.
