These program notes address relevant issues regarding the works on my recital program: J.S. Bach's Toccata in F-sharp minor, BWV 910, Ludwig van Beethoven's Sonata No. 28 in A major, Op. 101, Sergei Rachmaninoff's Variations on a Theme of Corelli, Op. 42 and Arno Babajanian's Poem for Piano. Chapter one provides the history of Bach's keyboard toccatas, analysis for BWV 910, and it also covers my personal performance suggestions for the piece. Chapter two addresses the specific history of Beethoven's late sonatas, and offers an analysis of sonata, Op. 101, followed by performance suggestions. Chapter three details specific characteristics of Rachmaninoff's writing style in Variations on a Theme of Corelli, Op. 42 and it contains a brief analysis and performance considerations. Chapter four discusses Armenian musical culture and history in the time of Arno Babajanian, as well as in-depth analysis of Poem for Piano followed by performance suggestions.
