Abstract
The first volume of Advances in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery has been devoted to the subject of blepharoptosis. The aim of this book is to summarize current thought on blepharoptosis surgery and to give a balanced view of recent advances in surgical techniques. The contributors have been chosen for their particular expertise in the area of ptosis surgery. In addition to the detailed descriptions of various techniques, other pertinent chapters include classification of ptosis, evaluation of the patient's condition, pseudoptosis, eyebrow considerations in ptosis surgery, and eyelid crease formation.The contributions vary from twopage summaries to substantial chapters with extensive references, eg, those on the engineering of ptosis surgery, pseudoptosis, and the aponeurotic approach to ptosis surgery. Some contributors are more lucid than others, lending a certain unevenness to the work as a whole.The best sections of the book are those on surgical techniques, which are complemented by
