IN REPLY. —Dr Quigley correctly extracted from our data that there is some correlation between the IOP and the degree of axonal transport blockade. Actually, a correlation also exists between perfusion pressure and the degree of blockade if attention is paid only to the cats without pharmacologically altered BP. Such correlations of the degree of blockade with both IOP and perfusion pressure have been evident since the first experiments in monkeys,1 and we do not mean to deny these relationships. It would have more accurately reflected our intended meaning if we had said that neither correlation was more striking than the other, rather than saying, as we did, that neither pattern (correlation) was evident. We mean only to say that our experiment failed to show that the degree of blockade was more strikingly correlated with one than with the other. We apologize for our inaccurate wording and are grateful
