Abstract
Gentamicin was shown to be a useful drug in the treatment of infections in 45 infants with low birthweights. Since levels of gentamicin in the blood were higher on the third day than after the first dose, care should be taken in administration of the drug so as not to reach levels in the blood that are potentially dangerous.
