Abstract

Alzheimer's disease is a complex genetic disorder with at least four genes and several environmental factors that increase disease risk.Recent candidate gene studies have failed to detect any new widely replicated genetic effect. The eventual discovery of additional genes for Alzheimer's disease will require scientific and ethical guidelines for the use of genetic information in patient care. Curr Opin Psychiatry 11:417-423.
