Abstract

• A new instrument, the membrane peeler cutter (MPC), has a solenoid-activated right-angled microscissors (diameter, 0.9 mm) that can be used as a hooked needle as well. It has been successfully used in more than 50 vitrectomy procedures that were complicated by intraocular membrane formation at the preretinal level. It has also been helpful in the cutting of pupillary membranes.
