Abstract
SYNOPSIS: Mixed methods research offers critical insights and translational knowledge on the complexities of physical therapy practice. Integrating quantitative and qualitative approaches captures contextual factors that influence outcomes, clinical decision-making, and organizational health. This approach aligns closely with the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health model and expertise within physical therapy practice. Moreover, mixed methods research provides helpful information for patients and physical therapists, providing a holistic understanding of contemporary health care and societal health needs, contributing to foundational knowledge, critical reasoning, and evidence-based practice. Despite its growing adoption in physical therapy research, the application of mixed methods research in musculoskeletal physical therapy research is limited. This viewpoint advocates a call-to-action for education, training, and implementing mixed methods research in musculoskeletal physical therapy. JOSPT Methods 2025;1(1):3-7.
