We investigate the blow-up phenomena for the two-component system for hyper-elastic rod equation on the real line. We generalize and refine the result obtained in [27] for the two component Camassa-Holm system, where the author used a slight but effective modification of the result from [7] (Theorem 2.1), ensuring the preservation of the sign of some expressions generated by the first equation of the system, associated with the obtained blow-up conditions.
