Abstract

The present study examined the relevance of McReynoIds' assimilation theory of anxiety as a conceptual framework for receiver apprehension theory and research. Specifically, the hypothesis that there is a significant positive correlation between cognitive backlog, or unassimilated material, and receiver apprehension was tested. Results confirmed the hypothesis.
