Abstract
Locales where intravenours drug users (IVDUs) go to inject themselves are of special interest, in preventing the spread of AIDS. Field research conducted among IVDUs in Miami, Florida answers questions about opportunities for infection in shooting galleries and outlines the cultural context in which risky injection occurs. Intervention among proprietors of shooting galleries has potenial for siccessful prevention of infection, but success may only be short-term without ongoing reinforcement of prevention techniques.
