Abstract
This case challenge describes the presentation of an unexplained rash in the summertime. The diagnosis of pathology is not always straightforward in the emergency department. This case challenge is designed to allow practitioners to familiarize with the person’s presenting history and apply clinical knowledge, examination techniques, and serologic testing that will aid diagnosis.
•Lyme disease is common in the United States.•Emergency department nurse practitioners need to be aware of how Lyme disease presents.•Nurse practitioners need to be aware of the initial management and subsequent follow-up for patients who have Lyme disease.
