Keith and Walsh discuss the concept of authorship of the Gospels. Particular focus is given to how modern scholarsly conceptions of authorship are influenced by German Romanticism, which leads scholars to see the authors as representatives of entire communities. Walsh forwards the case for seeing the Gospel authors like other Greco-Roman authors, as independent cultural producers.
