Abstract
This paper was written to serve as both a conclusion and reflection on the author’s course of study, as well as an analysis of their capstone portfolio. Each of the compositions discussed were written as part of a cumulative project inspired by the close friends and family of the composer.
Following brief explanations regarding the inspiration for each composition, the discussion covers melody and harmony development, orchestration techniques, recording and mixing protocols, as well as digital production elements such as sampling and synthesizer manipulation. This information serves to showcase the techniques learned during the author’s time at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music, as well as offer a resource for composers and orchestrators interested in all aspects of music production.
Full scores and personnel involved in the project are listed in the appendices, alongside a brief description of the estimated real-world costs of production, a list of the
composer’s works completed in the duration of the degree program, and their professional artist website.
