Abstract
For my final project regarding the MPS program, I completed an internship at TransparentSea Inc. in Downey, California. Here, I was immersed in multiple steps of developing a shrimp farm for commercial production. These steps included stocking post larvae to daily routines to advancing construction on a second stage recirculating system. Although there were challenges and surprises during this internship it was truly invaluable to me. Being involved in the early development and construction of TransparentSea Inc. exposed me to multiple areas of a business that a classroom cannot. I learned firsthand what complications and obstacles an operation may encounter when being established. These experiences and lessons are foundational as I proceed onward in the field of sustainable food production.
