Abstract
Human influence and alterations to climatic and environmental processes threaten worldwide biodiversity and ecosystem functionality. Highlighting the unique ecology and beauty of an ecosystem in peril as a result of anthropogenic destruction, invasive species and climate change, this work foregrounds the fragility and importance of the Florida Everglades through formal interpretative programs. The main goals throughout this internship were to develop, prepare, research, and present competent and effective interpretation programs aiming to raise viewers' ecologically conscious mindset; and finally to pass on and distribute an observational evaluation survey for the use of future interns. The programs will showcase the sub-ecosystems found within the Everglades and its biological diversity. By calling attention and raising awareness for this Floridian landscape, the interpretation internship with Greening Youth Foundation, in partnership with Everglades National Park, hopes to create and share a reverence for the often-overlooked wonders found in nature. Communicating scientific information through hands on activities, this work seeks to insight activism within visitors/viewers, invoke ideas of environmental stewardship, while sending a message about the importance of restoration and conservation efforts.
