Abstract
On August 10, 2020 the University of Miami Libraries will reopen to the campus using Springshare’s new LibCal Seats module to manage appointment-only access to four of the University’s Libraries: Richter (Interdisciplinary), Architecture, Marine Science, and Music. LibCal Seats, released into production on July 17th, builds on the existing LibCal Spaces platform to allow for seat-level appointments with a variety of customizable options. UM Libraries will use LibCal Seats to manage access to 300 seats across the University Libraries, including appointments for a non-library department headquartered in Richter Library. This webinar will include the factors driving the decision to utilize an appointment-based model, results of a July 22 student focus group testing the preliminary LibCal Seats setup, final structure decisions, and most importantly, we will share how the model has fared during Orientation Week and the start of Fall classes on August 17.
