Expertise

Dr. Simpson's research generally focuses on understanding human infants' early social skills, including neonatal imitation, face perception, and gaze following. She primarily uses behavioral measures, including eye-tracking and face-to-face interaction tasks. Her current research projects explore new measures of infant well-being (happiness) and parent-infant bonding. She also studies whether there are early markers of ASD (autism spectrum disorder) and SIDS (student infant death syndrome) in newborns.
